OPEN WATER SWIM

Why not make a holiday of your time in Tasmania with a Trans Derwent finswim.  Competitors swim from one side of the river Derwent (Eastern Shore) to the City side (Western shore). This is approximately 1.5km depending on tides.  This is held as part of the Royal Hobart Regatta which is one of the oldest continuous regattas in the world commencing in 1838. With side shows and aquatic events.

COACHING COURSE

On Saturday 15th February there will be an Australian Accreditation Coaching Course to be held at the Royal Hobart Regatta Grounds opposite the Doone Kennedy Pool.

This is A$350 for the certificate course or $150 for competitor information on biomechanics of finswimming

AUSTRALIAN FINSWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS

SUNDAY FEBRUARY 16th 2025

The competition will be held at the Doone Kennedy Hobart Aquatic Centre Tasmania and is an open age event excepting for Junior swimmers 11 years and under who will have the opportunity to swim two bifin races in their age group.

RULES

The competition will be run under CMAS rules except for the rules on :-

  1. Swim wear where any form of modest swimsuit is allowed providing it does not gain any unfair advantage
  2. Any brand of Mono fin or bifins are allowed providing they reach the size specification of CMAS rules
  3. Competitors 11yrs and under are NOT allowed to wear mono fins except for the rubber variety. Snorkels are recommended by not mandidate.
  4. One start rule.  False starts will be disqualified by notification on the completion of the race.
  5. Medals presented to first, second and third and where necessary the first Australian if beaten by a person from a guest country.
  6. Competitors must be a member the Australian Underwater Federation(AUF) or a CMAS affiliated Country.
  7. Entries from other Underwater and aquatic sports encouraged.

Competitors and Coaches are advised to check the CMAS rules prior to the competition.

ENTRY FEES:  OPEN $85 11YRS AND UNDER $50
